The Podcast Downstairs

Well, howdy, pardners! After two new movie round-ups this year (eps 24 and 31), these cowpokes offer you our takes on the fall’s most frightening releases including: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Resident Evil, Hokum, Buddy, Onslaught, Buffet Infinity, Her Private Hell, VHS: Mixtape, and Hope! We’ll wrestle up what else is on our calendar this year and what else might be on the horizon!

No, we’re not talking about Shaft, but in light of OTHER MOMMY, we thought it was time to assemble our unofficial cannon of parenting pitfalls and unhinged horror moms! From baddies to stabbies, we’ll talk guilt, betrayal, and probably a bit of Freud, but mostly we’ll recommend our top picks for all-time most memorable and influential mothers in horror movies. Whether they’re hero or villain, Mama’s coming home!

In celebration of Zack Cregger’s new foray into the Biohazard zone that is the Resident Evil franchise, we Boo Boys will open our Umbrellas to not only our experiences with the video games, some of Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich’s movies, and the other couple recent stabs at the IP, but also some of our other favorite zombie tales including Italian masters, punk rock provocateurs, the post rage virus craze, walkers, runners, jumpers, and even the time George Romero made a commercial that rekindled his love of the undead!

No, we’re not talking about the Winchester boys, but about some of our favorite movies that cover all things supernatural whether it’s spooky creatures, cursed objects, an undeniably dark presence, or powers from beyond! We’ll discuss the classics, hidden gems, plus some new and international releases!

The Boo Boys return to our SLASHICS series for the 1976 low-key classic The Town that Dreaded Sundown and its surprisingly restrained yet faithful and fun 2014 remake/sequel. All based around real life serial murders in the Texarkana region in the spring of 1946, we’ll discuss the similarities to Zodiac and the quiet ways it helped influence slashers like Friday the 13th for years to come!

We’re so back in theaters! After a new movie catch-up to open the year (ep 24), we return to offer you our takes on summer’s hottest releases including: Evil Dead Burns, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Faces of Death, Forbidden Fruits, Carolina Caroline, Redux Redux, and Exit 8! We’ll touch on what we’ve missed and what else is on our radars in 2026 and beyond!

Legend has it that after a tense sundown seance playing subgenre roulette, the Boo Boys have decided to revisit our favorite folk horror films from around the globe! We’ll traverse time and space and God’s reach to offer you the finest international folk horror movies that transgress the village elders’ commands and get us in touch with our bloody, cursed roots.

The Boo Boys bring to the basement their takes on the double-feature of the year, Backrooms & Obsession (the movies, not the seedy stripclubs), plus four of their favorite underrated movies for your watchlist!

Showcasing some horror gems available on one of our absolute favorite streamers, SHUDDER! We watched Heresy, Good Boy, and Whistle, plus we’ll make other recommendations to round out your next spooky movie night!
